The Topsy Turvey Ponytail

When I was younger I used to have my hair in all sorts of styles, one of my favourites was the topsy turvey ponytail.
This is such an easy hairstyle to do and you can do it with any height of ponytail or even a low side ponytail and it looks lovely every time. All you need is a hair tie.

To start you will have to brush your hair through so you can get the neatest style possible.

You will then need to put your hair into a pony tail at the desired height. Bare in mind at this point that the rest of your hair will hang close to your head. I did my ponytail in the middle of the back of my head.

Next, pull the hair tie away from your head and make a gap down the middle. If you are doing a side ponytail you can do it at an angle.

Lastly flip your remaining hair through the top hole of your hair and push it through so it goes all the way through and hangs out the bottom. You can then pull on the hair tie to make it a bit more tighter.

An there you go, a quick and easy topsy turvey ponytail.
You can also do this style so all the remaining hair is tucked in, you just don't make the gap in your hair all the way through and stuff all your hair inside itself. This will take a bit longer and require a few pins to secure it into place.

Makeup

I'm not a big make up wearer and I usually try to keep it natural. My routine in the morning takes about fifteen minutes, some people may think this is a long time to spend on your makeup but I like to think my face is a canvas so like to take my time.
I start with a moisturiser to prime my skin then a layer of liquid foundation. I find it difficult to find a foundation which matches my skin colour as I am quite pale, I don't want to spend out for expensive brands but at the same time I don't want the foundation to look patchy. I use Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation in Light Porcelain, it is a light foundation which some people might think is too watery but it is perfect for me.
After applying foundation I cover up blemishes or any glint of a dark circle under my eye with concealer. Some people may think I don't need any concealer and they are probably right. I'm lucky and hardly ever get spots. The concealer I feel works best is Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, it covers well and lasts a long time, plus its pretty cheap.
I pat a little bit of my remaining foundation on top of the concealer so it blends in with the rest of my face and there's no colour difference from the two.

I like the matte look of foundation so I use a brush to put a sprinkling of powder foundation over the top. This is also Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Powder in Fair.
Every girl needs a bit of colour to her cheeks whether is be blusher or bronzer. My skin suits blusher as I have a natural rosy cheek anyway. I use Rimmel Powder Blush in Santa Rose, I think powder blushes go on easier than cream blush but I would like to find a cream blusher that goes well. I apply it with a Max Factor blusher brush to my cheek bones from my nose to just above my ear.

Once the base of my face is done I put on my Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express mascara. Now being ginger you would have thought I would wear brown mascara but you would be wrong if you do think that. I do wear black mascara but this is just out of preference and goes back to my dancing years where I had to wear stage makeup. I know that when I don't wear mascara I look like I'm ill or tired and I have confirmation from a number of people that this is true. The mascara I use also comes in a really pretty purple tube with a lace print on the cap. I put it on the top and bottom lashes but have really long bottom lashes so only do the bit close to the eye.
I wear a little bit of pencil eyeliner but not so much that it's too obvious. I apply this to the waterline which people before have told me I shouldn't do but I look strange when I just apply it to my lash line.
I am pretty much done once the eyeliner is on, all that is left to do is put on a bit of Vaseline, or if I'm feeling it a bit of lipstick, natural of course, and walk out the front door.
I think if day time makeup looks like you haven't shoveled troughs of it on, you have been successful in the application. I see far to many girls, especially living in Essex, who wear too many layers of foundation and the wrong colour.

My theory is enhance your natural beauty. Every one is beautiful in their own way.

Childhood Memories - Playing Spies

Here’s an insight into my childhood memories.
I have two brothers, one is eighteen months older than me and the other is three years younger than me.
In the summer of about 2001 when I was about nine my brothers and I became slightly bored one day and decided to become spies. My mum was doing things inside the house, probably in the kitchen in the front of the house and we went into the garden.
At first we was spying on my next door neighbor’s garden but that got quite boring because nothing was happening. Then we decided to spy on the garden over the back of ours, all we could see was the trees and bushes and part of the house through the trees. At the time we had a low fence at the back so we could duck down and peek over the top. My older brother decided we should go into the garden and spy on the house. I wasn’t entirely sure but went with it.
We hopped over the fence and crept to the back of the garden where there was a small hill of grass. We, in turn, looked over the hill at the house. Suddenly we all saw a face at the window and scuttled back to our fence and jumped back home and walked calmly into the house so our mum didn’t suspect anything.
A few days later my mum was putting washing out in the garden and we were playing in the house. I saw that she was talking over the fence to the owner of the house at the back and thought of the worst. We had been trespassing in someone else’s garden, we was sure to be told off.
My mum came into the house and gathered us together.
“I was talking to our neighbor over the back, she said she has been seeing little heads popping up over the hill at the back. Do you know anything about that?”
My older brother piped up first.
“We was only looking, we didn’t do anything, I promise.”
“I would prefer if you would ask the person before you go over into someone else’s garden. She did say she isn’t worried that you went over but you can play over there if you like.”
We found out that her daughter goes to school with my younger brother and after that he went over there a bit to play in their garden. We did apologize to my mum and my neighbor and we was forgiven.
A fond memory of a very nice neighbor and an exhilarating moment.

Just write about yourself...

So I think I should write a little bit about myself to start my blog off, that way you can get to know me and what makes my world.
At this precise moment I am twenty years old and living in Essex. I know Essex right, all the connotations that come with that one word. You're probably imagining a fake tanned blonde with too much makeup who goes out partying every night and says things like 'reem'. Well I'm afraid if you think that's who I am you will be very disappointed, let me paint a picture of myself. I am a 5'6" tall ginger girl who gets up in the morning, has a shower, dries her hair upside down and then leaves it to go where it likes, wears minimal makeup and talks in a proper English accent, no Essex twang to be seen or heard in that matter.
I am a dance teacher and I specialize in ballet even though I could teach tap, theatrecraft, modern and freestyle as well and sometimes do.
After finishing school at sixteen I went to college and studied Art and Design which I specialized in fashion. I didn't go to uni like most people because I didn't feel like it was the thing for me to do, I'm not one of those people who wants to get in to debt and go out partying every night plus there wasn't anything I wanted to study.
I have a very big supportive family around me who always look after me and make me laugh. I have great friends from all different parts of my life, from primary school to college, who will be there for me whenever and I will always be there for them when they need me. I am also lucky to have an amazing boyfriend who looks after me and makes my day every time I see him. I sound like the soppy one, don't worry I won't be full of gushy, lovey dovey posts, not my style.

Well I think that's about it for now. Congratulations if you made it to the end of the post, I appreciate you giving up your time and hopefully you will be back soon.
